Churn It Up A Notch Quilt Pattern

It is fun and quick, with big pieces and easy construction and it can be made in just one day.

This is a Churn Dash Block. It originated in the 1800’s. Its’ name comes from “butter churns” because of the relationship between the shape of the blocks of butter, and the shape of the churn. The center square is the stick called the churn. Thank goodness we do not have to churn butter anymore.

This print-at-home pattern makes a 36" x 36" quilt.
